You walk through a nondiscript door in the basement and enter a restaurant decorated like a middle eastern bazzar. The food. Is very good. There are choices from all corners of the globe, but the food is american / familiar enough to please the untraveled. My 7 yo ate Greek wings and west african gumbo and loved both, as did I. Worth a visit. Prices were fair. About 17 to 25 per each entree. With plenty of food.

Finally made it in to try Immigrant Food. Intended to go to a different location, but ended up at this one. On street parking can be a bit hard to find, but it's worth it. Nice ambiance inside. Even though it was a smaller space, it didn't get loud and didn't feel cramp. Service was very good. Tried a few things off the menu and everything was tasty. The shakshuka was a bit salty for my liking, but still good. Perhaps next time I'll pair it with an alcoholic beverage Also, love their mission!!

Great food and a very nice cocktail set. The shareable platters were all great and the flight of 3 cocktails let me sample before choosing one. The lavender haze was a little bitter but the bar tender heard us and sweetened it just a bit making it perfect. Friendly and helpful staff along with good food and drinks made this a great experience.

Great dining experience! Food was amazing; service incredible. I shared my dairy intolerance, and my server made sure to tell me every dish that did or did not have dairy, even when we ordered additional item (I was dining with a friend and sharing most plates). I would go back!

We found Immigrant Food on a whim while looking for somewhere to eat in DC, and I am so glad we did. What an incredible mission and experience all around. The food was fantastic - we ordered several shared plates from the happy hour menu (which had lots of options and lasted into dinner time!) and there wasn't a miss from start to finish. Some highlights were the Filipino fried chicken and the Greek wings, but literally everything was phenomenal. I was also so happy to support a cause that is helping show that, as they said on their menu, immigrants are what make America great! Pictured are the Belgian fries and the Filipino fried chicken. (Also, please come to Atlanta, this would do so well here!)

I've passed be this place often when I used to work near metro center & have always been curious about it. I finally tried it a few weeks ago with a friend for lunch. No reservations. We walked in on a Wednesday. It was busy, but we were seated less than 10 minutes from when we arrived. It was better than I imagined. So cute inside. Many of the menu items sounded delicious. I ordered the curry. I'm not usually a curry fan but I was in the mood for curry that day. It was the best curry I've ever had in my life. Flavorful, balanced, & the sauce wasn't too rich or heavy. Portion was perfect. I would definitely order it again. They also had alfajor cookies, which have become my new favorite cookie. Prices were reasonable. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I took my wife to Immigrant Food for our 8 year anniversary. I must say we both resonate with the mission at Immigrants Food. This included the aid they bring immigrants the quality of food they serve at their restaurant. The venue is very quaint and has a real nice/homie feel to it. We were hungry so we tried a lot of their food. Everything was delicious. Very happy about the food and quality of the service. The dishes that stood out were the Burrata and the Crispy Chicken and Lemongrass dumplings. We truly enjoyed our experience.

Wow! Probably one of my new favorite spots in DC! Literally everything we tried was phenomenal - and I think these are the best fries I've had in DC! I got Madam VP Heritage, and my husband got the Mumbai Mariachi. Our kids got the Classique Grilled Cheese, which was delicious (I want to know what bread they used) and perfectly balanced with the ham and Swiss. We finished our meal with the alfajores, which I didn't get a photo of because we gobbled them up. But I was incredibly impressed with the food and service. Reasonably priced (especially for where it's located), bright and airy. It is a bit small, so it would be difficult to accommodate a large group, but there's plenty of seating, and there were several folks here reading and just hanging out on a Friday mid day. I can't recommend this spot enough - as a gastroadvocacy spot, it was already intriguing enough, and the diverse (and changing) menu is exceptionally executed! Excited to come back and try more things on the menu - with a side of fries!
